Summary:

The Assistant Director will develop a comprehensive and strategic approach to identify, cultivate, recruit, and steward Wooster alumni and families as partners, advocates, and supporters. This position requires strong relationship management and volunteer engagement skills as well as the ability to make data driven decisions.

Essential Departmental Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Liaisons with campus partners including but not limited to Admissions, Career Planning, faculty, etc. with purpose of identifying and engaging alumni volunteers in strategic, campus priorities.
  • Implements targeted alumni and family programming based on career industries, both in-person and virtual.
  • Leads marketing of electronic platform(s) that promote alumni-to-alumni connections and student-to-alumni connections.
  • Oversees and implements class officer engagement.
  • Serves as member of reunion planning team and manage a small number of reunion committees.
  • Develops and implements a volunteer stewardship plan.
  • Revives and implements a robust class notes program.
  • Spearheads early engagement, including but not limited to, managing the Future Alumni Network.
  • Works with campus colleagues to ensure effective and accurate tracking of volunteers.
  • Analyzes engagement data to discover new volunteers, diversify Wooster's volunteer pipeline, increase participation in the Wooster Fund, and inform new engagement strategy and assess the effectiveness of our volunteer programs.
  • Assists with planning and execution of signature Advancement events.
  • Builds positive and productive relationships with colleagues, vendors, and community members.
  • Travels, as needed, for event, volunteer recruitment, and stewardship.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-2 years of professional experience preferred or a combination of demonstrated student leadership opportunities.

Work Environment:
  • Standard office workplace with desk and private office.
  • Majority of time spent at desk.
  • Special events require out-of-office flexibility.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends are expected?.


Physical Demands:
  • Some lifting/moving of boxes and supplies.
  • Event set-up and clean-up?.
