Summary:

The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS), located in Juneau, AK, is seeking an energetic, entrepreneurial, and strategic thinker to join the newly named Office of Advancement. While this position is termed through the end of Fiscal Year 2027, a successful candidate will have an opportunity to grow with a team that is forward thinking and dedicated to the future of the university.

About the position:

This position, in close coordination with the Executive Director of Advancement, serves as a major gift officer for the UAS Office of Advancement. As a fundraiser, you will interact with internal development and university colleagues in addition to the UA Foundation. You will strive to build and maintain relationships with UAS alumni, friends and donors. The Assistant Director will attend educational training two times per year for nationally recognized institutions or organizations that further philanthropic endeavors. Under the guidance of Chancellor Aparna Palmer, the University of Alaska Southeast is dedicated to creating a destination workplace and a world class university. Starting salary is commensurate, based on education and experience.

As the Associate Director of Development, your hands-on experience in higher education will prepare you to understand the university's mission, environment, and operating requirements. To thrive in this position, you will bring your expert knowledge of the principles and practice of fundraising for higher education. The gift officer plays an important role in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment and requires the ability to think strategically, multi-task, and demonstrate professionalism at all times. You should have experience with fundraising databases such as Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, or similar platforms.

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of three years of successful fundraising or relevant skills is required. Master's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business, public administration, or another relevant field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Juneau. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. This position is term-funded and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 82, based on education and experience.
