Compensation: $78,000 – $90,000 depending on experience

Job Summary
The Alumnx Relations Director is a strategic professional and creative leader responsible for the overall development of alumnx relationships, creating a strong bond between them and the university. They are responsible for the creation and execution of university special events and alumnx gatherings. The Director collaborates with the university community in the planning and execution of successful university events, providing key expertise and strategies for events to support important university functions involving alumni, donors, community leaders, and VIP guests. Naropa is seeking an outgoing, organized, seasoned development and events professional, who understands the importance of relationship management and values the small details that make a big difference to event outcomes, to take develop a robust alumnx relations program. Working as an integral part of the development office, the director will focus on new ways to engage alumnx, enhance fundraising, and deliver outstanding experiences for guests. Candidates should have excellent soft skills such as attentive listening, problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management.
This position has a flexible schedule and is expected to be in the office three days a week.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as chief liaison between the alumni and the University.
- Establish Alumnx Associations; plan and implement appeals to increase membership.
- Build relationships with key volunteers to support alumnx and parent programs throughout the year.
- Serve as ex-officio member of any Alumnx Association groups and act as the primarily liaison between them and the development office.
- Assist with maintenance and updates to the alumni database
- Assist with developing strategies to market events to alumnx, focusing on engaging new segments of the alumnx population (including social media and electronic platforms)
- Create annual alumnx schedule of events with Development Office
- Manage communications to alumnx and parents relating to events
- Work closely in partnership with Facilities, Events, Marketing and other teams on events development and communication.
- Assist in the planning and execution of alumni and donor events, as well as high-profile events including arranging venues, catering, décor, program, volunteers and planning timeline and scripts
- Design and coordinate direct mail campaigns and regular alumnx publications, such as, appeals, thank yous, brochures, newsletters and annual impact reports.
- Manage and build strong relationships with alumnx businesses, corporations and affinity partners to secure sponsorship and career enhancement for alumnx.
- Design, execute and supervise an annual telemarketing campaign.
- Develop and execute plans to enhance relationships with 50+ prospective and current alumnx donors in their personal portfolio to increase their loyalty and overall giving.
- Respect confidentiality and carefully document relationship progress.
- Assist with other development-related projects requiring written communication about the university and its programs, such as, donor solicitation packets, campaign materials, and other donor communication.
What Naropa Requires:
- Bachelors Required, Masters preferred.
- 5-7 years of development, alumnx relations and/or events experience.
- Previous experience achieving fundraising metrics.
- Experience working in a hybrid office environment, preferably in a college/university, large nonprofit organization, and/or similar complex setting.
- 3+ years of experience in development and events management, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Must possess exceptional time management and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and a variety of grant submission platforms (Cayuse, etc.)
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality, discretion, and sensitivity regarding all University business and, most importantly, personal information pertaining to each and every constituent.

3) Please describe your experience working in collaboration with other stakeholders (faculty, community members, etc.) in fundraising and events development. Please provide 2 references who could speak to your experience in these areas.

All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
