The Center for Global Health Practice and Impact (CGHPI) was founded in 2019 and is a leader in advancing innovations to solve intractable global health challenges. Based at Georgetown University Medical Center, CGHPI has operations in multiple countries. Our work is informed by unique approaches anchored in integrated delivery, behavioral, epidemiology, and data science plus human-centered design. We start with the end in mind and approach each challenge we seek to solve through intentional and structured interdisciplinary methods to ensure sustainable improvement in health outcomes and health institutional capabilities.
Job Overview
To advance this mission and in support of our continued growth, CGHPI seeks a Senior Grants Manager. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, Clinical and Centers - with a dotted reporting line to the CGHPI Director of Finance and Business Operations and the GUMC Assistant Vice President for Global Health Operations, they have the following core functions:
- Grant Management: Oversee the administrative aspects of awarded grants, including establishing project accounts, coordinate and track the negotiation of terms and conditions with funding agencies, and ensuring compliance with grant agreement terms and conditions and funder regulations.
- Budgeting and Financial Management: Develop project budgets in collaboration with principal investigators, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with sponsor guidelines. Monitor project expenditures, track financial transactions, and reconcile accounts to ensure proper stewardship of grant funds.
- Compliance and Regulatory Oversight: Stay abreast of relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines governing research administration, such as federal regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance), institutional policies, and sponsor requirements. Ensure compliance with ethical standards and other applicable laws and regulations.
- Contract Negotiation and Management: Facilitate contract negotiations with industry partners, government agencies, and other external entities. Review and negotiate contract terms and conditions, intellectual property rights, confidentiality agreements, and other legal aspects of research contracts.
- Reporting and Documentation: Support Program Managers in the preparation of progress reports, financial reports, and other required documentation to funding agencies and sponsors in accordance with grant requirements and deadlines. Maintain accurate records and documentation to support compliance and audit requirements.
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
Serving as part of the global health portfolio team, the Senior Grants Manager works directly with PIs, Program Managers/Directors, and Country Directors in CGHPI; serves as the primary contact with University Sponsored Programs Financial Operations team; and may represent the University to sponsors and other external stakeholders.
This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or an Accounting field is required - Master's degree preferred
- A minimum of 5 years prior experience
- Experience managing a portfolio of awards at least $50M in value
- Sub award management experience - including training and capacity building
- Proficiency with office productivity tools - e.g., Google Docs, Microsoft Office
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Workday/GMS
- Credentialed as a Certified Research Administrator
Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$54,616.00 - $100,493.33
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
