This position performs its duties on both the Kentfield and Indian Valley (Novato) campuses, so if not already residing within the Bay Area, the successful candidate must be willing to relocate.

Position Overview
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, provide overall direction and guidance to the day-to-day operations, problem solving and decision-making regarding an assigned large-scale and complex program. Implement program policies and guidelines; provide for program reporting and accountability; provide work direction and guidance to other program personnel; establish and monitor program budgets. This position is grant-funded for 2 years.

Essential Functions


  • Passionate about connecting donors and alumni to the College of Marin's (COM) mission and ability to articulate the mission, goals, and objectives of COM.
  • Utilization of prospect research tool to help identify potential donor/alumni/prospects and gather information about them to understand their interest, motivation, and capacity to give.
  • Understand and manage constituent relationship (CRM) software (EveryAction) and maintain excellent and consistent data entry.
  • Review local and national news to obtain leads for prospecting new or current constituents.
  • Serve as a liaison between program personnel, participants, faculty, staff, students, alumni, prospective donors/alumni, and community groups.
  • Knowledge of best practices in donor and volunteer cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation.
  • Possess strong communication skills that entail active listening and awareness of body language, facial expressions, nonverbal clues, tone of voice, and clarity conveying thoughts and ideas.
  • Create, maintain, and implement work-plan that integrates with departmental goals and objectives which cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and alumni.
  • Develops and manages a comprehensive system for identifying, researching, and qualifying new prospects.
  • Experience with online marketing tools, including social media management, email marketing, content creation, and project management platforms.
  • Maintains website and support the creating, writing, and editing of alumni and donor profiles and utilizing social media accounts as needed.
  • Conducts individual donor, alumni, corporate, and foundation research, including tracking research outcomes in the constituent relationship management database (EveryAction).
  • Utilization prospect research tools to analyze, interpret, and qualify donor's and alumni financial assets, biographical information, determine donor or alumni areas of interest to create reports on donor/alumni propensity to make tangible or intangible contributions to COM.
  • Provide overall direction and guidance to the day-to-day operations, problem solving and decision making regarding a large and complex assigned program; implement program policies and directives according to District, federal or State guidelines.
  • Provide regular reports to management and federal/State agencies as requested; participate on program reviews; assure program compliance with federal or State program guidelines.
  • Establish appropriate linkages to special populations or community groups served; promote program through participation in advocacy groups, associations and other local, regional or national organizations.
  • Prepare funds applications; prepare grant requests and serve as the primary contact for large programs or multi-programs.
  • Provide work direction and guidance to others assigned to the program; assign work to other classified personnel, students, volunteers and others.
  • Conduct regular meetings to communicate, review and revise program guidelines.
  • Develop, recommend and implement program plans and objectives; coordinate delivery of services to program participants; assure participation guidelines are followed.
  • Assure program expenditures are within allocated budgets; monitor budgets; propose budget changes and participate in project budget applications as necessary.
  • Serve as liaison between program personnel, participants, clients, administrators, faculty and students; provide information, program requirements and other pertinent information.
  • Develop, coordinate, promote and oversee a broad range of programs.
  • Develop workshop materials, promotional materials and other program documentation.
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment as assigned.
  • Plan, coordinate and prepare a variety of materials used in program literature, marketing, catalogs and brochures.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.


Requirements & Desirables

REQUIREMENTS
  1. Bachelor's Degree with study in job related area and job related experience; or
  2. Any combination of education and training equivalent to (2) two years of college-level coursework from an accredited institution in a related field and (2) two years of responsible experience working in higher education; and
  3. Demonstrated sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, disabilities and learning styles of community college students and the campus community.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Prior to employment, the selected candidate will be required to complete the following:

  1. In accordance with Federal Law all employees must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  2. Criminal Justice/Fingerprint Clearance.
  3. California Education Code, Section 87408.6 requires persons employed by a community college in an academic or classified position to submit to a TB risk assessment developed by CDPH and CTCA and, if risk factors are present, an examination to determine that he or she is free of infectious TB; initially upon hire and every four years thereafter.
  4. DISASTER SERVICE WORKERS: All Marin Community College District (MCCD) employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the MCCD requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency. NOTE: The College is closed on Fridays during the summer period, when the work schedule may change according to departmental needs.

SALARY INFORMATION
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Salary Range: CSEA 127
Starting Salary Range: $43.84 to $48.35 per hour (Step 1 to 3). Normal entering step is Step 1.

CLASSIFICATION CATEGORY & RETIREMENT PLAN
Employees in classifications represented by the California School Employees' Association (CSEA) Chapter 196 and are required to comply fully with the CSEA/Marin Community College District (MCCD) Collective Bargaining Agreement. General information regarding rights and responsibilities under the Agreement can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreements section of our Human Resources site. CSEA employees are also members of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), to which the member contributes up to 8% of their reportable compensation on a monthly basis.

SELECTION PROCESS

Full-time Employees:
  • Medical Insurance: The District offers six plan options through Kaiser and Blue Shield. Effective 10/01/2024, the District's contributions for medical insurance coverage are as follows:
  • Employee-only: $1,600/month
  • Employee plus one dependent: $2,300/month
  • Employee plus two or more dependents: $2,800/month

Dental and Vision Insurance - Delta Dental and VSP vision plans for employee and dependents, with no cost to employees

Vacation Leave - 90 hours of accrual annually, with additional accrual after 3, 10, and 14 years of service
Paid Holidays - 17 paid holidays annually, which includes a paid winter holiday break at the end of December.


Sick Leave - 7.5 hours per month, 90 hours per year

Retirement through CalPERS - MCCD contributes 27.05% of employee's creditable earnings to CalPERS on a monthly basis (2024/2025). Vested after five (5) years. Mandatory employee contribution for 2024/2025 is 7% - 8%, depending on original date of membership and prior membership status.

Life Insurance - $50,000, with the option to purchase additional voluntary life insurance for the Lesser of 5x base annual salary or $500,000

Additional Retirement Savings Plans - Employees are also eligible to participate in a voluntary, tax-advantaged 403(b) or 457(b) retirement savings plan.
